Handgun Licenses & Requirements

These Firearms qualification courses are taught by our Maryland licensed and certified handgun instructor for the State of Maryland. At the completion of these courses you will receive the certification certificate for the Maryland State Police.

• HQL - 4 hour course training. This is the MD HQL class required for the purchase of a handgun in the State of Maryland. Click Here for Details
• Maryland Carry Renewal Permit - 8 hour requalification course for existing carry permit holders who need to re-qualify and renew their permit. Click Here for Details
• Maryland Carry Permit (New Applicant) - 16 hour classroom and range qualification training for eligibility to carry in the State of Maryland. Click Here for Details

Fees

With ABCO there are no hidden or surprise fees associated with the qualifications courses as where other companies charge for gun rentals and range fees. ABCO also offers discounted ammo prices to each individual that registers for these training courses.

• HQL Training Course - $110.00 - 4 Hour Course
• Maryland Carry Renewal Training/Qualification Course - $235.00 (Must be renewed every 3 years) - 8 hour course
• Maryland Carry (NEW applicant) Training /Qualification Course - $350.00 - 16 hour course

The renewal process is the responsibility of the applicant and should be started no less than 90 business days from expiration of the handgun permit. Timely renewal is the responsibility of the permit holder. The Licensing Division does not send out renewal reminders.
